The School’s Programmes

Early intervention programme for young deaf children at Balavidyalaya Chennai

Early Intervention Programme

When the infants and young deaf children are admitted, they are first enrolled into the early intervention programme that runs from 9 am to 10 am, Monday to Friday.

One parent of the child attends the classes along with the child, as the school strongly believes that the parents are the first educators in the child’s life and they are equal partners of the teachers at school, in fostering the child’s progress. The parents are shown ways and means to utilise the everyday situations and activities at home, towards developing language and speech skills in the child.

In cases where neither parent can be the caregiver, a relative of the child, like a grandparent or aunt, takes the role of the caregiver.
